In order to minimize its carbon footprint DunRite turned an otherwise minable field, at the Vineland facility, into a 6800 panel, 1.6 mega-watt solar array. 80% of DunRite’s power needs are being met by using this alternative energy source. Using solar power will result in reduced consumption of fuels and a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and pollution.
“Many businesses don’t realize that using solar power is the equivalent of prepaying for almost 40 years of energy, but at just a fraction of what they are currently paying,” said operations manager Steve Mayo. “And the system will require little or no maintenance at all. This is a fantastic benefit to the environment and our company.”
The solar panel array is connected to a online program that monitors energy use.
